Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.

It helps people recognize negative thinking patterns, challenge their accuracy, and replace them with more constructive thoughts.

Commonly used for issues like anxiety, depression and stress.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT encourages people to accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them.

It emphasizes mindfulness and helps people connect with their values to take meaningful action in their lives.

Particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and chronic pain by promoting psychological flexibility.

Each therapy offers unique tools, but all aim to help individuals improve emotional resilience and live more fulfilling lives.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of CBT, but focuses on managing intense emotions and improving relationships.

It combines acceptance and change strategies, emphasizing skills like mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance.

Originally developed for borderline personality disorder but now applied to various mental health issues involving emotional dysregulation.
