I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and have over 9 years of clinical experience counselling individuals living with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, codependency and more.
I work from a trauma-focused and attachment-based lens, specializing in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, sexual violence and abuse, complex trauma as well as childhood trauma and neglect.
I believe that healing from trauma changes everything: how we relate to ourselves, to the people closest to us and to our environment. It shifts our perspective from just coping with life challenges to creatively investing our energy into authenticity and connection.
I look at mental health issues as developing from what has happened to us and NOT what is wrong with us. These issues can stem from our childhood or from traumatic or stressful experiences later in life. Consequently, the beliefs we form about ourselves and the world around us impact how we show up in our relationships and how we respond to all sorts of life challenges.
I work with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a transformative, evidence-based therapy to treat trauma in all its forms as well as phobias, panic, depression, anxiety, OCD, chronic pain, dyslexia, anger issues and more.I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Focusing as effective, experiential forms of therapy, which get to the root of and resolve internal distress.
When trauma and neglect are processed, perspectives tend to shift. We begin to relate to ourselves and to others differently. Compassion takes the place of shame. Understanding replaces distress. Our sense of self-worth increases. We develop healthy boundaries.Cognitive and Mindfulness Strategies from ACT, CBT and DBT can then solidify the NEW beliefs, identify any residual thought distortions, aid us in choosing how we respond to people and challenges and how we can authentically live according to our values.
Sessions are $200 per therapy hour
